Rikhardinkatu is one of the oldest libraries in Helsinki and served as the city's main public library until 1986. Designed by architect Theodor Höijer in 1881, it became the first public library building in Northern Europe. Today, Rikhardinkatu Library offers more than just books; it showcases works of art as well. The library hosts rotating exhibitions, literature, and music events across all three floors. Like other libraries in Helsinki, Rikhardinkatu provides an excellent coworking space for creative minds. During the summer, the library's courtyard transforms into a cozy terrace, hosting meetings and cultural events at the library café.
